Home Run Heros

April 2, 2008

This book is about Sammy Sosa and how he became a baseball legand.Sammy was born on november 10, 1996. he was born in the Dominican republic. Where he lived no one speaked english not even him. His family was a very poor family. Sammy was always helping to keep food on the familys table. When sammy was young he never played baseball. He was constantly working with no time for fun. Sammy first tryed base ball when he was about 12 years old. His family was so poor that he had to use a milk carton turned inside out. While he played baseball more often the more he realzed how fun it was. Sammy soon realized that nobody he knew was as fast, strong, and could throw the ball as good as he could. Sammy started taking baseball more seriously, because nobody around was near as good as he was. One day a guy for the ranger had noticed him so he called his boss and the very next day his boss had flown to the Dominion Repulic to watch him play baseball. Both guys for the rangers had thought that he was good enough to go to the big leages. The Rangers had asked him if he wanted to play for then. Sammy of coarse said yes. Sammy signed a contract with them, and got an extra 3,500 just for signing. That was way more than his fmily has ever seen. Sammy sosa then had to play in the minor leages for a season. The next year Sammy was in the big times, and amazingly did fantastic. Through out his career he has done so well. He had the most homers in one season, and most RBIs.
I thing some of the ups of this book is that it leaves out the fact that Sammy cheated. If it didnt leave out the fact that Sammy sosa cheated then that would not be good because kids look up to him and then they would think if he cheated, hes the great Sammy Sosa i should cheat. I dont think that there wasn’t any down to the book I thought it was perfect.
I would recomend this boook to any one who likes baseball. If you like baseball but not Sammy Sosa then i would not recomend this book because that is all they talk about. This book was more of a easy read book, because the book was really short, and not mush really happend. This book would be perfect for a young kid.
